About Erik

Erik Deckers has written a weekly humor column since 1994, and has been a published writer for more than 30 years. He has been publishing his columns online since 1997.

He is published in seven newspapers throughout Indiana. He writes business articles, speeches, and stage and radio plays. He is also working on a sitcom.

Erik was the 2016 Spring writer-in-residence at the Jack Kerouac House in Orlando, FL. He is now the president of the Kerouac Project, and has served on the board of directors since 2016.

Erik is the proud co-author of four social media books including Branding Yourself: How to Use Social Media to Invent or Reinvent Yourself, No Bullshit Social Media, and The Owned Media Doctrine. He also published his first novel, Mackinac Island Nation in 2019, and is waiting for his second novel, Whither Utopia, to be published in 2024. He frequently speaks on writing, content marketing, networking, and entrepreneurship.

Erik lives and works in Orlando, Florida, loves penguins, and is fond of writing about himself in the third person.
